Animal Success Stories

Here are just a few examples of some of the fantastic happily ever after endings DROH was able to provide for our animals and our supporters. We'd love to add your story to this page too. Email us at doginfo@dachshundrescueofhouston.org and share how one of our dogs has changed your life.

I want you to know our "SAKI" is an absolute delight! It will be three weeks today that we got her. She has adapted so well to all the changes. She is the SWEETEST temper dog we have ever seen. My boys visit every weekend and wonder at her loving, calm nature! She most of the day turns on her back and loves her belly rubbed--almost all day--if she can help it. I think her separation anxiety is gone & she has formed a routine. She knows what is where in each room. She sleeps well in her crate. (She ripped all the bedding that we put in her crate for the first week--now we do not put anything at night) She rips nothing during the day time has a bed in each area during the day. She likes being with us and follows one of us room to room --just asking for love & petting! She is getting a lot of it--maybe too much but, who cares! She loves her LONG walks around the lake, no potty problems inside the house --not even one mishap! That is a blessing! She follows instructions to the "T". Thanks for giving her to us! She is a perfect replacement for Taffy--which we thought was irreplaceable !

I was fortunate enough to be Rusty's foster mom. My job was to care for him until he found a permanent home. Well it didn't take long before I realized he already had. He is an amazing, sweet, loving, friendly, potty trained! dachshund. He was my 12th foster. I'd been looking for "The One" to foster fail with, and sure enough, this was my guy. I am so proud and grateful that DROH said yes when they got the call this guy was at the shelter. I'm down one foster spot now, but I have a family member I will never be able to part with. And I'll always have room for 1 or 2 or more dachshunds in my life.
