Max, formerly Sonny Boy, lived a long and luxurious life after a tough one prior to his DRoH days. He had over a decade to earn his frosty face and leave his paw prints on his parents' hearts.
Rescued 1/25/18 Adopted 3/4/18 Rainbow Bridge 5/2/25. Mía passed away very unexpectedly from a tumor she had that we had no idea about. There were no signs on her last annual checkup or her bloodwork. We gave her the best life. She was so spoiled and so incredibly loved by all of my students and especially by my husband and I. Thank you for your help in bringing her into our lives. RIP sweetie. Our hearts are broken.
Our sweet Baby Girl, Midge Myrtle, went to be with her brothers Mycroft and Sherlock on April 20, 2017.
She was the princess of our house and had the attitude of a diva. She came to DRoH from a local shelter when they said she was on the list to be euthanized the next day. DRoH got her and another dog who soon became our first fosters. It was their pictures on the internet that made me want to foster. From the moment she walked into our house she owned it. She would snap at our older dog's nose leaving him totally confused. She spent many of those first days in doggie timeout. Two weeks into fostering her, she needed back surgery as her back end was totally down. I remember crying and driving frantically from JV to NHVS to get her the surgery she needed. THANK YOU DRoH and your supporters. A few short days later she was released and rehab began. We had no idea what to do, but I remember being so thrilled when she peed for the first time on her own after the surgery. She fought back to regain all of her movement.
Time went by after the surgery, but nobody seemed interested in adopting her. I guess it was God's way of telling us to figure it out - she was meant for us. At Christmas of that year we made it official and she became our baby girl. I have a husband and now two teenage boys. It is a rough boy house, but put baby girl near them and they turned to mush. Our boys would sing songs about her and cuddle with her endlessly. She would pee on my husband's bathroom rug and he would just roll his eyes - she had him wrapped around her little paw.
On April 20th, we felt it was time to let her go after years of being fine it seemed her back had again let her down and her bladder was no longer functioning. She finished life eating every treat the doctor threw down in front of her and left dreaming of more treats to come. There will never be another Midge and I don't know at times how our hearts will be repaired.
Thank you DRoH for saving her and paying for her back and allowing her to be part of her life. The Anderson's
DRoH saved this boy from euthanasia and he was able to spend his senior days in the comfort of a family. Rescued 10/22/22 Adopted 7/1/23 Rainbow Bridge 8/6/23
In Loving Memory of MinnieMo MinnieMo was a special little angel, and her adopted parents were blessed with the incredible gift of loving her for two short but meaningful months. Though her time with them was brief, the love she gave and received was deep, real, and life-changing. Before rescue, MinnieMo endured a hard and unfair life. By the time she was finally safe, heartworms had already caused devastating damage to her tiny body. Despite treatment and the extraordinary efforts of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, the damage to her heart, lungs, and kidneys was too severe to heal. There was no cure for what neglect had done. What makes the loss even harder is that MinnieMo had just begun to know The Good Life of soft beds, gentle hands, safety, and love. She was learning what it meant to be cherished. She was her Mom's
constant shadow, never far away, always close, always trusting.
MinnieMo’s story is a cry from the heart to anyone who has a dog: please take care of them. Dogs are a precious gift from God. They rely on us for everything, especially for their health and protection. Monthly heartworm prevention is simple, affordable, and lifesaving. Without it, heartworms cause unimaginable suffering, slowly ravaging every vital organ and stealing lives far too soon. MinnieMo did not deserve the pain she endured, but she did know love at the end. She left this world wrapped in kindness, dignity, and compassion. That love goes with her across the Rainbow Bridge, where her body is whole, her heart is strong, and she runs free at last. Run free, sweet MinnieMo. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
