Animal Success Stories

Here are just a few examples of some of the fantastic happily ever after endings DROH was able to provide for our animals and our supporters. We'd love to add your story to this page too. Email us at doginfo@dachshundrescueofhouston.org and share how one of our dogs has changed your life.

Cassie Lynch
Cassie Lynch

Dachshund Rescue of Houston,
I wanted to share this precious video of Cassie. I don’t know how to thank you again for choosing us as her adoptive parents! She is absolutely adorable and makes our family complete!
Love from,
All of her adoptive Family

Cayenne aka "Kianna"

Dear DROH,
We wanted to share our wonderful experience with DROH.  We adopted  Kianna in 2010 from DROH, and she has been the sweetest dog in the  world.  Her name from DROH was Cayenne because of her beautiful color,  and a lot of your dachshunds at that time had "spice" names.  We changed  it to Kianna, and have given her the nickname of Mooch.  She immediately  fit in with our family, and stole our hearts from day one.  My  daughter, an only child and now almost 16, loves to lay on the floor next  to her main bed in the living room and snuggle up with her.  Her dad  adopted a mix puppy Christmas 2018, and we dog-sit for him on a frequent  basis.  They became instant friends!  I couldn't believe how much  having another dog around the house gave Kianna new life and new energy!   They chase each other around the house and play until they simply can't  play anymore.  It's hilarious to watch them together!   We are now going through the adoption process to add another dachshund to  the family.   Kianna was estimated to be 3-4 years old when we  adopted her, so she is now approximately 11-12 years old and is doing  great.  She loves to snuggle and give kisses and is spoiled and loved  beyond imagination.

Thank you, DROH, for taking in these dachshunds and finding great forever  homes for them.  I can honestly say we love our Kianna so very much, and  can't wait to add another to the family!   Just wanted to share our happy story with you.  I don't know what we  would do without her!

Cyrus Martin

This is Cyrus Martin and we adopted him from you in December of 2014. This is the act he puts on when I’m packing my suitcase to go out of town - he really tries to look pitiful.🤠There’s not a day that goes by that he makes us laugh. We’re so thankful to have him - you folks took great care of him!

Cowboy Sommer
Cowboy Sommer

Cowboy is a wonderful dog!!! I have my 5 & 6 year old grandkids here, and they play together wonderfully. He doesn't get upset or growl at anything. Loves fetch and tug of war. Sleeps with Sadie and I at night. Was his previous owner a man? He seemed connected to my brother at first. Now it doesn't matter. He has a new name tag on. Thank you for allowing me to adopt this great dog.

Count Winslow
Count Winslow

I can't tell you what a great dog Count (aka Coco) is and how well he fits into our home. He and Joey (our other standard) are best buddies. And you would think they had been together since they were puppies. We adore him and can't imagine our home without him in it!

I can't begin to tell you what an absolute angel Count is and how much we adore him!! And how much we appreciate all that DROH does!
