My heart is broken. We lost Teddy today. I loved this pupmore than anything in life right now. I'm so happy he explored the USA, Canada and Bahamas with us. We traveled around on our boat and Teddy loved going to new places with new smells. We loved him so much. Be free buddy and run the world like you wanted! I wanted to let you all know that our Goldie aka Helen Brewster has crossed the rainbow bridge. After living with a heart murmur all her life, surviving a whole dark chocolate Terry's "Orange" last Christmas, and pancreatitis, IBD, an aweful granuloma and thankfully, just a little back pain, she died at almost 14 years old or so of cardiac insufficiency yesterday morning, and we are completely crushed. She was our constant companion of 10 years, and we are very grateful to you all for helping us find each other. I've included a "baby pic" and one from a couple of years ago plus a more recent one. She went everywhere with us, she was the perfect cuddly affectionate velcro friend at home, and also the perfect travel companion for all kinds of adventures! At 10-11lbs, she was amazingly strong and enjoyed being outdoors alot, unless of course it was raining. When she got tired, she'd get in a pouch or backpack and enjoy the view and smells. She did suffer separation anxiety all her life, which was worse after all the work at home of the past few years, and she managed to convince us to keep up the WFH as long as possible. When we were at home, she would always be either sleeping next to one of us, or asking for food. She was such a good communicator, as quiet as she was, she could communicate almost anything with her doxie grunts and snorts and body language. She would ask to go with us by jumping into her backpack, almost every time she realized we were leaving without her. I felt like she was always talking to me, but of course, she was usually just telling me all the reasons that I should open the treats! I imagine that as she lay dying, she was thinking what a shame that her life's work of training us to give her treats whenever she asked, was incomplete. Just kidding, she was so loyal, kind and charismatic. She never met a stranger. At the beach in Galveston, where we walked every morning, her favorite new buddies were about 4 years old for the nose kisses! She brought us so much joy, laughter and love, she will never be forgotten.
