Please note: Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted before going public. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Meet Duke!
Duke is a loving, people-oriented boy who truly thrives on companionship. He wants to be right by your side, whether that’s cuddling on the couch, keeping an eye on things around the house, or curling up under a cozy blanket for a nap. He’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s with his people.
Duke is very food-motivated and eats well, making training and routines easier. He sits patiently at your feet during mealtimes and appears to be fully house-trained, especially when treats are part of the reward system. He understands that toys are for chewing and has not been destructive in the home.
At night, Duke sleeps soundly in his gated corral with his bed, and while he’s a bit hesitant about a traditional crate, he does very well in his corral when left alone during the day. He enjoys running and exploring freely in a fenced backyard and loves his daily neighborhood walks.
Duke is currently working on socialization. He may bark at people or larger dogs when out and about. Interestingly, he has no reaction to the doorbell, and once guests are inside the home, he warms up quickly, often ending up happily in their laps. With continued exposure and patience, he should continue to gain confidence.
Car rides make him a little nervous at first, but he enjoys looking out the window and seeing what’s going on. With more time and positive experiences, he’ll continue to improve in the car and in the community.
Duke would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home or an active retiree who enjoys walks and values a dog that wants to be close. If you’re looking for a devoted cuddle buddy who loves blankets, naps, and being part of your everyday life, Duke may be your perfect match.
