Animal Success Stories

Here are just a few examples of some of the fantastic happily ever after endings DROH was able to provide for our animals and our supporters. We'd love to add your story to this page too. Email us at doginfo@dachshundrescueofhouston.org and share how one of our dogs has changed your life.

Daphne Lynch
Daphne Lynch

We are over the moon about DAPHNE LYNCH! We were looking for a Sister for Bernie who we adopted in July. Oh, has he met his match & then some!! She melts our hearts with those sweet little black eyes & oversized paws. She just owns us all. Bernie & Daphne will grow old together ... guarding our home 24/7, traveling road trips with us across the country, & hiking as many dog friendly trails as they can across our National & State parks. We can't imagine life without them. Thank you DROH for these two little blessings. They've stolen our hearts forever!!

Kyiv Mai

Our Bernie (formerly known as Kyiv Mai) is settling in nicely at our home.
We're SO BLESSED to have an abundant supply of snuggles & cuddles from this
little guy. And boy, does he run fast! We can hardly keep up with him when
he does zoomies in our backyard. Everyday, he does something new that makes
us laugh & so proud to be his new Mom & Dad. He adds so much joy & life to
our humble abode. He's also our new travel buddy as he loves going on
road trips & hotel stays with us. He thinks he owns the place when he walks
the hotel hallways & loves showing off his new parents in the lobby. Life
will never be the same again with this little guy, & we're so happy about
that! Thank you DROH for taking such good care of him until he found us.
Especially, his foster Mom (Susan) & Dad (David) have been a tremendous
support & help with all of their tips to help him transition. They are
Angels for these Doxies before their forever homes!! We are truly grateful.

Dachshund Rescue of Houston,
I wanted to share this precious video of Cassie. I don’t know how to thank you again for choosing us as her adoptive parents! She is absolutely adorable and makes our family complete!
Love from,

Alania Dogust

An update for Alania:
We have since changed her name to Molly. She is doing wonderful in our home. She was a bit shy at first and still has some separation anxiety when she doesn't see us around but she still has made a ton of progress and is no longer fearful about what is happening around her. She loves playing ball outside, going on walks and playing chase with our other dog, she also loves to sunbathe when it's not too hot outside. She has given us so much love we could not have been happier with having her in our home.

Yelana Snowdrop
Yelana Snowdrop

Hello DRoH!

I wanted to give you an update on Yolana Snowdrop.  Her new name is Pepper.  She is making progress every day.  It was heartbreaking to see how afraid she was.  Now she loves to be petted and get belly rubs.  She plays with her toys and potties outside.  I am crazy about her and can't help smiling every time I look at her.  I bought her a bed but she sleeps with me and that makes me very happy.  We are doing great together.  Pepper and I say thank you.”
