Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Cedar was found after the floods in Houston. Maybe he got washed away from his family, because it's clear he was well taken care of, perhaps a little too well, given the size of his belly. This boy was provided love through food and needs to shed a couple pounds. He's not at all food aggressive though, nor is he even that food motivated. He'd much rather spend his time out in the yard chasing lizards, squirrels, birds or pretty much anything that moves. Cedar stays in a crate during the day when his family is away, and he's learning how to get into his crate on command (with the aid of a tasty treat). Cedar loves to be near his humans when they are watching TV, and tries to jump into your lap, even though he is a bit too husky to do so. But he's not left out in the cold -- a nice comfy cozy dog bed on the floor is where he gets to lay his head in the evenings and at night. He is joyful, friendly, energetic, stubborn but obedient if you force him to be, and overall a really really great dog. He has got absolutely gorgeous brown markings, a coat that feels like silk, a big head and chest and fat paws - all really fantastic dachshund traits. This boy will make the most wonderful addition to a family with or without kids and with or without other dogs. He's really something special, and whether it was him or his family who got washed away, we sure our glad our DROH lifeboat was able to scoop him up to safety.
