I was dumped in a dumpster.  Then the shelter saved me from that awful fate.  The shelter reached out to DRoH, and now I am safe and sound and loved with Dachshund Rescue of Houston.  I have bit of a journey to full health, but in the meantime I will let everyone get to know my sweet and gentle personality.  

Boy am I ever so glad to be a DRoH girl.  I used to be known as the the Dumpster Dachshund -- someone tossed me in a dumpster like yesterday's trash.  I don't know how that happened, so my story will be begin with the day that Animal Control contacted DRoH and I am became a DRoH girl!   I got my teeth cleaned (and boy, did they need to be!) and now I am getting ready to get rid of the pesky heart worms that have infected me.  Gosh, y'all -- just one pill a month can prevent this.  I do know somewhere in my past I was a much loved girl.  I have very nice house manners - I LOVE everyone - men, women and other dogs. My favorite thing?  I love sitting in laps or snuggling under a blanket. I am pretty good with my potty skills and appreciate the freedom of a doggie door, since I'm an older lady and sometimes need to make frequent pit stops. I am on a RX food diet to help me stay regular - another unfortunate side effect of my advancing age, but since I'm a pretty petite female, I don't need to eat too much, and the special food really makes me feel great. When I feel great, my true personality shines through. I can sleep in a crate or in a dog bed at night. I'd prefer to be in the same room as you during the day and night, but I can be alone if its necessary, though I'm not sure why anyone would ever want to leave me out of anything.  I have a very cute little 'song & dance' trick that also leads those that meet me to think I was once a pampered princess.  I am petite and sweet and have been told I am very beautiful.  I am looking to be someone's princess again -- could that someone be you?
