Please note:  Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted before going public .  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Meet Ivy  - A Survivor Ready for Her Happy Ending

Ivy's story began in heartbreaking circumstances. She came to Dachshund Rescue of Houston from a severe hoarding situation where she endured unimaginable neglect. Used repeatedly for breeding and left to live outside in deplorable conditions, Ivy has every reason to be cautious about the world. Instead, she has chosen to be loving, trusting, and incredibly sweet.

At just 3 years old and 12.5 pounds, Ivy is a gentle little girl who thrives on affection. She loves being close to her people and is happiest curled up in a lap soaking up attention. Ivy is eager to please, even-tempered, and has a calm, loving nature that makes her a joy to be around.

She gets along well with other dogs, enjoys adult companionship, and rides beautifully in the car, making her an excellent travel buddy. Despite everything she's been through, Ivy's resilient spirit shines through every day.

Because of her past, Ivy is still learning what life as a cherished family pet is all about. She is not yet housetrained and will need a patient, understanding adopter who can help her continue building confidence and learning household routines. With consistency, kindness, and love, Ivy is sure to blossom.

Ivy has spent her life giving to others. Now it's her turn to be spoiled, treasured, and loved for the wonderful little dog she is. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of love and a story of incredible resilience, Ivy may be the perfect addition to your family.
