Please note:  Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted before going public .  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Meet Jesse Alliance!

Jesse is a handsome 5-year-old, 18-pound dachshund with a big personality and an even bigger love for his people. This guy is the perfect mix of playful energy and snuggly companion.  He is equally happy chasing after a squeaky toy or curling up in your lap for some quality cuddle time.

Toys are Jesse’s love language, especially squeaky ones, and his absolute “zen place” is with a tennis ball in his mouth. He’s active and enjoys playtime, so he’ll do best in a home that can match his enthusiasm and keep him engaged. He’s housetrained, leash trained, and crate trained, making him a great fit for a structured home.

Jesse is also very devoted and protective of his person, forming strong bonds and wanting to be close as much as possible. Because of what appears to be a history of neglect, he can be a bit needy for attention, but it just means he has a lot of love to give and is making up for lost time.

He has shown some food guarding, but he’s already made great progress in a short time with consistency and patience. With continued positive reinforcement and a predictable routine, he’s well on his way to becoming more confident and secure.

Jesse would thrive in a home that understands his need for both activity and affection, and one that will continue helping him build trust and confidence. In return, you’ll get a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will happily be your shadow and your couch buddy.

If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly and keep life fun, Jesse might just be your perfect match.
