Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Meet Maverick!
Maverick is a sweet, affectionate, and cuddly dachshund with a silky coat and a big, loving heart. He’s the perfect little companion who loves to be where the action is, which could mean following you from room to room or curling up right beside you to keep you company. He adores attention but isn’t demanding; he simply enjoys being close to his people.

Maverick walks nicely on a leash, mostly because he wants to stay right by your side. He’s a quiet boy who rarely makes a peep, though he might let out a few soft whines or yips when you leave - just to let you know he’ll miss you. Don’t worry though, he settles down quickly and patiently waits for your return.

He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys a good play session with toys. While he can be a little shy when first meeting new people, his gentle curiosity quickly shines through once he feels comfortable. Maverick is still working on building his independence and is learning to use the dog door to go outside. He appreciates a bit of supervision during mealtimes and potty breaks, but he’s making steady progress every day.
