Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Are you looking for the perfect companion? Look no further than Dotsie Dogood. Don’t let her age fool you, this girl has lots of miles left and plenty of energy to travel. This girl is housetrained! She is sweet, affectionate, the perfect lap dog, an enthusiastic eater, a quick learner, and a constant companion. She will follow you everywhere (watch under your feet!) and she gets so excited when she can follow you from room to room.
Breakfast and dinner time are her absolute favorite times, besides time spent loving you. She is generous with vocal encouragement as her meals are being prepared, letting you know she is ready and willing to receive delicious morsels. She is very loving with people. In her first week at her foster home, she was wary of the other dachshunds and didn’t want them to get too close before she would gently let them know they were too close for her comfort. Now that she has gotten to know them, she is much more relaxed and has learned to share her personal space – including with a cat! Dotsie now plays wonderfully with The Cat and her foster brother Clancy. She especially enjoys grooming them, and she will lick their faces until they have had quite enough.
In the car, she does well but wants to be in a lap. She is not a fan of being left alone and the kennel is not her favorite spot. She will allow you to put her in the kennel, but will voice her disagreement with the isolation and your departure. Dotsie would do well as a single pet or in a home with a low number of other pets. She gets jealous (in a cute way) of attention lavished on others and demands she receive her fair share.
Dotsie is ready for her second act with a forever family who will just let her love, kiss, and snuggle them. Could your home be her stage?
