Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Are you looking for the best snuggle buddy around? Are you looking for your own personal furry shadow that loves toys? Are you looking for a best friend that just wants to love you unconditionally? Well look no further! Benny is the pup for you!

Benny is a handsome dachshund mix with the softest fur. Once he decides on his person in the house, they're his world. Although he's happy to get pets and attention from other family members or visitors, he always has his eye on his favorite person and is never far away. With that said, Benny isn't too dependent and does fine left in his kennel when his foster parents are gone during the day and at night. Though he would much rather sleep in the big bed at night, after a couple barks (just in case you change your mind!), Benny settles down quickly and sleeps quietly all night long.

Benny loves toys of all kinds, though his favorite are soft plush ones. He's so gentle with them, and will carry a toy (or two) around in his mouth to show it off. Benny has done great with other small dogs he's met, and even shares his toys with his dachshund foster brother. He's done well with big dogs after a proper introduction, but gets a little intimidated by them at first. When he gets scared, he just puts his front paws up on his people to ask to be picked up.

Benny is shy when meeting new people, but always stays friendly even when he's a little reserved. He does take a little longer to warm up to men compared to women. He hasn't been around kids yet, but it seems like he would likely do fine. He also hasn't been around cats, so it's unknown how he would do.

Apply to meet Benny today, you won't regret it!
