Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Flora Arbor was a dog that had been warehoused.  She had little social skills and no training but thanks to rescue she was saved from that life.  Flora was bewildered by a yard with green grass, a family that loved on her and by attention.  She was lean and long, a delicate graceful creature that reminded her foster mom of a budding young ballerina who needed to prepare for the stage.  She was more than willing to train and learn the things it would take to be a great companion dog.  When she found out meals came on a regular basis she would gratefully go to her crate, sit for her food and most importantly she could learn what was expected of her.  She had not been house trained but with the help of her foster siblings she soon realized there was a schedule and a method of doing things that gave her great rewards.  As she watched the other dogs, she soon followed their lead and was eager to be in the treat line up, go outside with the group and participate in things that would help her.  Flora had been harshly treated and would suck down to the floor like a magnet if she thought she was going to be punished.  A soft tone and a gentle hand brought her to realize she wasn’t going to be hit or yelled at and she blossomed under that hope.  She was a bit timid at first but that need for attention brought her out of her shell and soon she was a lap dog that loved to love back. Every time she got time in a lap her eyes would speak asking why it wasn’t always like this?  Those beautiful brown eyes are happy that someone now has her best interest in mind and she would have a chance now to be someone’s forever family member and not just a dog in a cage.  Flora was a great momma to her babies giving birth to 6 beautiful healthy puppies 3 boys and 3 girls who will also find excellent homes through the help of DRoH.  She’s accomplished a lot of things while in her foster home and she’ll need those things reinforced.  She can walk on a leash now, she knows to sit for her food, she can be told no and now understands.  A few accidents might happen inside but that has greatly improved as well as she is being helped to know where to go instead for potty breaks.  Flora is a calm, easy going young lady that has a lot to offer.  She’s not destructive at all and will gladly love on you forever.
