Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hi, my given name is Ricky Primrose.  I came into foster care on February 9, 2021.  It was a wonderful day for me because I got to joyfully join a fostering pack of five in a dog loving home.  When I came in my tail was wagging like crazy!  The moment I came in the door I knew I was going to be taken care of and I had new friends.  I had been someone’s dog it was obvious and even though I had lost my family I knew how to be a pet.  I warmed up right away to regular meals and my fragile skinny body responded quickly.  My dark coat began to shine, and my eyes got bright and happy.  I knew I was one of the lucky dogs that would be going to a forever home.  I was grateful for a warm place during the winter storm and I showed it with lots of cuddles.  My favorite thing is to hang with my foster mom in the art studio.  There are lots of windows and I could perch on the back of a sofa and look out at the birds.  I was not used to being in a crate and it caused me a great deal of distress but a bed near my humans at night worked nicely.  I learned quickly from my pack buddies the routines they followed.  I was smart and could sit for my meals and take turns when treats were given out. Everyone goes out as a group here for potty breaks and I learned it quickly also using a doggie door.  I did not have to worry about anything, and I relaxed.  At night I sit with my foster mom in a recliner by her legs on a warm blanket and I am hoping wherever I end up in a permanent situation I can have the same.  I have not been tested with cats or small children, so I am hoping an older couple might want me for my gentle loving nature and delicate lite frame.  I am small and long so a delicate handler would be best for me.  My foster mom is working with me to understand I am safe in an exercise pen if needed but really, I am so good in the house it is not necessary. I am a particularly good, well behaved young man.  I have a soft voice and don’t bark a lot.  I have a ton of love to share so if you are looking for something to add some joy to these days... I would like very much to be a part of your life.
