Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hey there, I see you checking me out and may I saw you have exquisite taste. As you can see I am a gorgeous double dapple with the most enchantingly beautiful blue eyes you have ever seen. My markings make the perfect accessory for any Texas Ex on Halloween as you can put a hat with horns on me and call me Bevo! Or if you are an Aggie you can strap on a saddle and pretend you "sawed varsity's horns off". And if you are neither then you are just getting a perfect little ol' me!

My owner passed away unexpectedly this year and now I am looking for my second chance at a forever home. I am the softest (like petting velvet), sweetest (do you like kisses?), and most perfect dachshund you will ever meet! I am 100% housebroken, kennel trained, perfect roadtrip partner, and I love everyone! I currently have a foster dachshund brother and two foster brother cats. My foster brother, Reginald T. Dog, is absolutely smitten with me and can you blame him? I mean these eyes, the ears, and the dainty little paws...I am the total package! The cats and I get along perfectly, though I do get spooked if the chubby one steps on my in the bed; and really who can blame me?? He weighs 15 pounds!

My foster mom calls me Peppa the Pig because of my pink skin and round belly. I have to remind her that just means there is more of me to love! She does have me on a strict diet and exercise plan which believe it or not I actually like. I love going for walks but I am not a fan of the wet! When it's raining I will go out, potty, and come straight back in. No amount of pulling on the leash will get me to walk further than I must in order to do my business. A lady should always stay dry!

My favorite pasttime is snuggling on the couch with my foster mom! Okay... Okay.... I'll admit my real favorite pasttime is to sleep...anywhere...at any time.... Okay I may actually be a couch potato!

My ideal forever home has great food, lots of love, plush beds in sunny spots, and a yard to explore. I adapt quickly and easily to any setting and I would be happy with one person or 10. So long as you are there to hug me then I will have a perfect life!
