Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hello, my name is Dahlia and I have come to stay in a family with two Dachshund foster sisters and a Dachshund-Pit mix foster niece, and I have loved getting to know them. There are no cats or young kids, so I don’t know how I would be around them. I have felt quite timid around my new family to begin with, but did feel brave enough to explore and wag my tail lots after a couple of days – I think they call that slow-to-warm-up. I just call it being a bit on the cautious side and needing to know people will be kind before I let my guard down too much. I am not one to play with toys, but I watch my foster siblings play, and we are treating one another kindly, with no arguments. I have let my foster parents know that I love belly rubs and sitting on laps for cuddles. I am very ready and happy to climb into my crate at night and I have only woken up in the night once when I needed to potty outside. Talking of which, I am getting into the potty break, feeding and nighttime toothbrush routines very well. I have very good manners in the house, have had no accidents and I do not bark inside or outside for that matter. I do have a charming, warm, under-my-breath sort of sound when I need to attract someone’s attention. My foster mum says it sounds like a very cute, muted Chewbacca! We go for walks around the lake near our house, and I walk well on the leash, though I do like to bound around when I smell exciting things. As I let my fosters get to see more of who I am, I’ll let them tell you more……..
