Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hello my name is Katherine Wieman.    Sleek and thin I have a beautiful coat of colors and I am one of the lucky ones who found my way into a rescue group.    I wasn’t a dog that had seen much human attention but within a few short weeks I found out I could be a fabulous dog! I was safe, fed regularly and I could drop the title of unwanted.    My foster mom let me have my time to adjust because I was being brought into a pack of 4 dogs I didn’t know and I had a puppy with me.    It was very different here I got lots of love!    It was very exciting to feel loved and my baby was safe, too.    After a few weeks I found out there was a routine, potty breaks, food, water, petting, social time.    It all started to feel comfortable and I let down some of my guards and became part of this new pack. I really enjoyed the humans… it took a little longer to like the other dogs.    I enjoyed the soft sounds of morning conversation, the smell of coffee is wonderful, the warm blankets and the private spaces reserved just for me.    I was so changed and so happy.    My tail begins to wag like mad at the sight of this new person.    I was clearly going to be okay.    With some help I began to understand that you potty outside, there would be regular breaks, the other dogs were fun playmates and there was this thing called toys! I love toys.    I love to chase and play and romp but the most important thing is I learned to follow directions.   With guidance I found out I was one smart cookie and very eager to see the next task at hand.    I am sassy and classy with a frisky bounce to my step now and soon it will be time for me to find my forever home.    I am up for the task and I know that someone is waiting just for me.
