Kokomo is a SPECIAL NEEDS dog. He will need an Angel who is willing to help him overcome the failure of his former human. His foster parents are diligent in their care and look forward to the day he can rise above his anxieties.
Koko thrives when around a dog buddy. When he's alone, he gets anxious and barks, so he'll need a companion animal with him at all times. However, he is able to sleep in his kennel overnight by himself. He is leash trained and enjoys walks with a dog buddy. His potty training is a work in progress. He has to go outside for potty breaks frequently throughout the day. He will have accidents if left loose in the home, so it 's best to keep him in his kennel or have him wear a belly band to prevent accidents if he's left free, even for short periods of time.
KoKo is learning how to live in a home environment with people, so at this time he is best behaved in his kennel or outside, either loose in a fenced in yard or on leash. KoKo is anxious most of the time and takes daily medication. He's not aggressive, but he's very fearful and nervous about people approaching him. You can approach him and handle him best when he's inside of his kennel, so long as you move slow.
He's very receptive to treats and having a dog buddy around makes him more relaxed in any activity you're trying to do with him. Koko has shown improvement in overcoming his severe fear and distance towards humans, and will continue to make progress if the right family with lots of patience and a calm, quiet home environment would give him a chance.
Remember, KoKo is a Special Needs dog who is hoping for a Special Angel to save him from his fears.
