Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Opie is a big sweetie! He loves to cuddle and give kisses. In the week that that he has been a Droh boy, he has learned to sit on command, and is doing well with staying and coming when called. He loves treats, especially the Kong toy with peanut butter! He is a very good car rider and would much prefer a doggy seat belt over a kennel. He has a surprisingly deep bark that you would not expect from a dachshund! He doesn't bark much in the house unless he hears noise outside or the garbage men try to steal his trash. He is a very good slow eater and is not food aggressive. Since having his neuter surgery, he has become a completely different dog! He is much more laid back, he rolls over when you walk over to pet him. He does unfortunately like to chase our cats, so he would probably do best in a house without smaller non-dog animals. He is slowly learning not to chase cats, so there is hope that he could live in a house with cats. He also knows how to use a dog door, but will need one that is lower to the ground as he is not a jumper. He is very skinny right now, but we are working to fatten him up and get his coat back to 100%! He really is a sweet dog who just wants to make someone happy!
